日本の世耕弘成経済大臣は、政府関係者と三菱、東芝など企業90社150人を同伴してイスラエルを訪問。15日、エルサレムのキング・デービッドホテルにて、イスラエルのエリ・コーヘン経済大臣らと会談を行った。
イスラエルは、アメリカ、並びにEUと自由貿易で合意しているが、日本とも同様の合意を目標に協議を行っている。世耕大臣のイスラエル方民はこれで3回目になる。
イスラエルと日本の貿易（ダイヤモンド以外）は、2018年35億ドル（約4000億円）で、昨年から20％増加した。日本からの輸出は23億5000万ドル、イスラエルから日本へは11億6000万ドルで、まだ格差があるが、イスラエルから日本への輸出が46％増だった。
日本航空がイスラエルへの直行便も検討していると伝えられている。

世耕大臣と日本代表団は、この後15日、ネタニヤフ首相とも会談。ネタニヤフ首相は、両国の貿易が、前は44倍と言っていたのが、今年は120倍になったと喜びを語った。
また「両国の友好関係は自然なものである。安倍首相と私は、両国の経済関係をアップグレードすることで合意したが、この（世耕大臣の）訪問は、その実現の一環であると語り、代表団を歓迎すると表明した。

This is the third visit in the past four years by the Japanese minister. He arrived accompanied by 150 senior Japanese businesspeople and approximately 90 representatives of major companies. ＜イスラエルに投資する日本企業＞
かつて、日本は、新しい技術を世界に発信していたはずだが、今は日本企業もイスラエルのスタートアップに投資し、その技術を買うほうに回っている。
三菱は、薬品関係で11.7億ドル、ソニーはマイクロチップの会社を2億ドル、ソフトバンクもイスラエルの会社に2億ドル投資したという。
また、イスラエルにオフィスを開設する会社が増えており、損保ジャパンなど70社以上になったとのこと。（なぜ損保ジャパンがイスラエルなのかは筆者には理解不能だが。。。）
＜石のひとりごと＞
日本が今になり、政府をあげてイスラエルに、積極的に参入し始めているが、それでもまだ中国、韓国にはかなり遅れをとっているということはお伝えしておく。
日本政府はじめ、これらの企業がどの程度中東の現状に通じているか不明だが、中東のイスラエルという火に手を入れ始めて、今後、なんらかのとばっちりが出てくる可能性も若干、懸念されるところである・・・
